I'm all about the blag these days.

Been so busy. Working tax college has just killed me. I was working on the other end of the city from 9:00 am (had to get up at 6:30 to make it on time) until 5:00. What made it just great was heading back to my branch for 7 to teach two more classes. The overtime was great, and my next paycheque should be epic. Guess I'm going to need it though....

Because I'm coming home for Christmas!!! I'll be home for about 11 days, so people, you better find something for me to do on new year's. I should have lot of presents and other Eastern oddities to show off. I don't have my full flight schedule on me right now, but I'll post it later.

On another note, I think I'm running two more 'Marathons' in the months to come! One seems to be about 10k uphill....not really looking forward to that one. And the other is 10k again, but this time on flat ground. I really gotta start training for this....

No one's watching my back...

It feels like the safety net is totally gone. No one is me watching anymore.

My head teacher, Lyu Sensei, a veteran of about 5 years at the company, has left. My manager, Yumi, of about the same, has also left. Now those two knew their shit. Although I've been here a while, I have always felt like they had an eye on me. On everything for that matter. Lyu was always prodding with loaded questions to make sure I'm getting everything done. Yumi always knew what I needed to do, how much time I needed and what I could do in how much time.

Now they're just gone. Yayoi, our new manager had been working as an assistant manager for about three years. I think she'll be a great manager, but she has her hands full and has no time to worry about me. And Naoko, our new head teacher is so sweet, but she has more important things to look out for what I'm doing.

It's a strange feeling. If I don't do things correctly, no one will notice-at least not for like 6 months.

Now the question....do I work hard or take a 6 month metal vacation...

Back online!

After about two weeks I finally have my monitor back. It's nice to be able to read 12 point font again. The only thing I could do with my computer for the past two weeks was play 'Call of Duty 2.' Although it's a great game, one can only shoot so many Germans (or Nazis I guess I should say) in a day.

But the more interesting news would be my marathon yesterday. Or my '10 kilometer' family run as some tools like to call it. My legs are so sore today. I can run 10k easily enough-I did it last week on Saturday morning before work. However this was up in the mountains--so damn, there were some hills. The race went something like this:

0-500 meters: straight uphill (lots of energy still)
500-2 kilometers: gradual slope up (easy enough)
2-6k: gradual slope down (easy enough, I should have ran faster)
6-8k: Steep slope up (HOLY CRAP KILL ME)
8-10: race to the finish. (not to bad)

All it all it was pretty sweet. I placed 80th in my class and finished in 57 minutes and 42 seconds.

Again, sorry for the blag.

Gotta go play Call of Duty.

Pain and more Pain

Holy crap this monitor business is driving me nuts. That thing was so expensive and now this bull shit.

Shogunai I guess.

On a more positive note, I’m going to have a wickedly painful weekend coming up.
Coming up REALLY soon.
THIS weekend to be specific.

Tony, Adam, Mikey, and I are in a marathon! I guess there’s a little masochist in all of us. Technically it’s not a full marathon but 10k is still a long way to run. However, I will continue to call it a marathon because my signup sheet says ‘marasan’ on it.

I’ve been running up this mountain near my place for a while now. It’s maybe about 2 or 3k to get to this little Shinto temple up top.

Although this is a pretty solid uphill run, I had no idea if I could last anywhere near 10k. So on Saturday morning, after crashing on Ron’s floor in town, I decided to run back to my place before work. It’s about a 20-25 minute train ride, and I ran it in about 1 ½ hours. Not too bad. I figure it’s about 10k. I just hope there aren’t many big hills….
